Hunger Games Trilogy Book Review

Hunger Games Trilogy Book Review

Well, I am really excited to catch Catching Fire in cinemas in November this year that I just felt that it’s unfair if I have not read the trilogy. So here’s a short book review on Centre for Social Media website, a site where me and my classmates blog about anything and everything under the sun.

Do show some support and feel free to comment on my post. And if you are looking forward to my next ‘real’ post on this blog, do stay tune and I will resume blogging soon. Been so busy with the other blog and I promise to spare some time for this personal blog of mine.

What-sy Wednesday

Hi guys! I’m back with What-sy Wednesday! I have been watching movies of different genres lately and I kind of starting to enjoy movies of romantic comedy more than action and horror, which is my usual favourite. What is happening? I really want to know what genre do people enjoy and so today’s question is:

What is your favourite genre in terms of movies and why? (it’ll be great if you can recommend me some movies too!)

Do share with me your favourite genres and why by commenting on this post. I really loved to interact with you so do open up and don’t be shy.

“Everyone is climbing their own Everest silently.”

“Everyone is climbing their own Everest silently.” – Kumaran Rasappan

One of the speakers at TEDxYouth at Singapore that was held on 17 November 2012. Kumaran Rasappan is the first Singaporean doctor to reach the peak of Mt Everest. This quote may seem simple but it has a deep meaning to it. I really love this quote because i personally feel that each one of us are facing challenges and by overcoming these challenges, its like climbing the Mt Everest. Achieving our goal is like reaching the peak of Mt Everest. Hence, here’s a quote for your to ponder about. Comment and share with me what you think about this quote.

Magic Mike 2012!!

I may be lagging behind but I’ve just watched Magic Mike recently. Honestly speaking, I’ve anticipated the movie ever since it was going to be released on 29 June. However, due to age issues, I couldn’t catch it in cinemas. Yup, that’s sad. Anyway, even before watching the movies I’ve read the synopsis and of course, without denying it, I did want to watch because of CHANNING TATUM!!! He’s hot.

SERIOUS TIME!!

PLOT

Based on my understanding, Magic Mike is a story inspired by Channing Tatum’s real life. Mike (played by Channing) works as a stripper at a nightclub to earn money so that one day he will be able to open up his furniture business. He is well known as Magic Mike in that particular club. Until one day, he met Adam (played by Alex) and that’s when he starts to teach Adam the art of being a stripper and making easy money. Adam’s sister entrusted Mike to take good care of her brother even though she disapproves of him working as a stripper.  Mike promised her that he will take good care of him but things get worse when Adam starts to get involved with drugs. Everything gets out of hand and that’s when Mike had to prove to Adam’s sister that he is not stripping for all his life because he has a dream.

Directed by Steven Soderbergh, Magic Mike was not satisfyingly hilarious but not bad. I would rate the film as average as there were not much effects or computer graphics used. At some parts, there were unstable shots to exaggerate the POV of sitting in the car, which is good. As far as possible, Steven ensures that dolly was a great way to capture the audience’s attention. Well, let’s just say that camera angle do play an important part in a film however, there weren’t great camera shots in this film.

The interesting part about Magic Mike is that it has a lot of stripper scenes in the clubs. Yes, some were not that satisfying but I guess that’s what most of the audience were looking forward to. But I definitely have to compliment Channing for his great acting as Mike. He really brings out the character to life and allows me to relate as to why he had to work as a stripper and how he had to save Adam when he was in deep trouble. Well, I would say Channing is a plus point for Magic Mike.

CONCLUSION

I would give Magic Mike, 3 out of 5 stars and mainly because of the great acting by well-known actors. The story plot could have been more exciting and the shots could have been more artistic and appealing to the audience. But there’s denying that it was funny but yet smart. So do catch Magic Mike in DVD for a better experience while watching it!! That’s all for now, do comment and share this. Be prepared for my next blog post if you love rom-com movies!!

Just A Quote…

” A Story is about Drama. Drama comes from Conflict. Conflict is created from Tension.”
– Kan Lume

One of the nicest lecturers I’ve met so far, that taught great and invaluable skills and knowledge that cannot be bought with money or anything else in this world. He never fails to inspire me with his teachings every week in Directing for Film class. One day, I hope to create an art film that really displays whatever I’ve learnt from him.
