Crazy,Stupid,Love. (2011)

Out of love and looking for a movie to watch? Crazy,Stupid,Love is the right movie to watch. Why? Two reasons. One; being out of love does not give you the right to give up but instead move on, upgrade yourself and who knows you will find the One. Two; love does not necessarily be complicated. But mainly, do not give up on love.

Cal and Emily after 'Divorce' news

The movie begins starts off with Emily (Julianne Moore) asking for a divorce from his 25 years of husband, Cal Weaver (Steve Carell) at a dinner. It was a rude shock to Cal, the father of three kids and choose to stay mum until his wife, Emily expose the truth that she slept with someone. But Cal chooses to agree with the divorce.

However, it was the part after divorce that turns out harder for Cal. He hangs out at a bar, getting drunk and starts making a nuisance of himself. Cal starts telling everyone about his divorce and making a fool of himself until he meets Jacob Palmer (Ryan Gosling), the hottest known Casanova in the bar.

Cal at barJacob starts to help Cal to get back on track getting him a transformation rather than to give up on love after a divorce. Initially, Cal refuses to heed Jacob’s words, seeing Jacob picking up different girls every single day, for he believed in one true love. However, Jacob suavely managed to convince Cal to upgrade and get out there in the market, where he could be enjoying his life again.

Cal makeover time with Jacob

Things get more interesting as Jacob teaches Cal on how to pick up girls. But most importantly, Jacob guided Cal to regain his confidence back. He starts talking to girls and eventually have some casual time with them. Cal thought things were starting to look up but he knows that he still loves Emily and his kids.

Amidst Cal’s life to get back in the market with ladies, another character, Hannah (Emma Stone) appeared. She first encountered Jacob in the bar, while he was trying to pick her up but it failed. She has been awaiting the day for her lawyer boyfriend to propose to her. But when the expected big day comes, her boyfriend laid an unexpected offer to his law firm instead of a marriage proposal. Hannah felt so cheated and devastated that her boyfriend was not going to propose to her even after so long being together. In a fury, she heeds her best friend’s advice and broke up with him right away.

Hannah breaks up with her boyfriend

She then makes her way to the bar where Jacob frequents, hoping to get laid after blatantly chasing Jacob away the last time they met. They kissed and Jacob brought Hannah to his luxurious home. They ended up talking and spending time getting to know each other instead of having sex. And soon, right after, they realized they have fallen for each other. And it was shocking for Jacob as he is one that does not fall in love.

Jacob and Hannah talks all night

Earlier on, Cal and Emily had a meeting with his son’s teacher. But it turns out that his son’s teacher was one of the ladies that he had slept with. Cal argued with Emily but realizes that as much as he wanted to move on, he refuses to. But it was all too late. Was it? He looks for Jacob but Jacob was gone. Cal was clueless.

Cal meets his Emily at his son's parent teacher meeting

This is where things get tough. But like the saying goes, if there’s a will, there’s a way. The divorce was definitely a mistake to Cal but he knows that he has to amend it someway somehow if he wants to be happy for the rest of his life. And that……. is where I should stop so that you may watch the rest of the movie. Well just another twist part, Hannah turns out to be Cal and Emily’s daughter! Shocking? Yup but things get more complicated too as Jacob is dating Hannah, something Cal disapproves. So how did Crazy,Stupid, Love ended?

The ending was definitely worth watching but it was the whole story plot that made me glued to my screen. Not to mention how incredibly attractive Ryan Gosling is. This may sound crazy but it was my first Ryan Gosling movie I’ve ever watched. This movie definitely makes me want to watch more Gosling’s movies!

In a nutshell, I would give Crazy,Stupid,Love. 3 out of 5 stars! So if you are crazy, stupid and wants to be in love or maybe in or out of love, you should watch this while having a blanket around to keep you warm while watching.

Till my next post lovelies ❤

My Top 10 Favourite Glee Songs

As many would have heard about the passing on of a talented actor who starred in Glee Season 1 till Season 4, here is a blog post I dedicate to Cory Monteith, one of my favourite Glee characters. It was indeed a shock for me especially when I learn about his death while at work. I told myself that I need to write a post as a tribute to Cory who played Finn Hudson in Glee and finally came up with this.

It took me sometime to cool down and get my mind off from the sadness to write this article. Been a fan of Glee’s songs, I’ve never failed to catch all episodes from season 1 to 4., (even though I may not be a hardcore fan). My Glee playlist was just too long that I just can’t decide which are my favourite ten. But nonetheless, here’s a list of my top 10 favourite Glee songs that I would like to share with all of you. (The list of songs are in no particular order.)

1) Give Your Heart A Break by Demi Lovato (Season 4)

Covered by: Rachel Berry and Brody Weston

Give Your Heart A Break Glee

A song by my favourite celebrity Demi Lovato, covered by Rachel and Brody was just amazing. Sometimes, I prefer the Glee acoustic version of Give Your Heart A Break than the original version. But then again, I will still love the original one always. Check out the performance here.

2) Rumour Has It/Someone Like You by Adele (Season 3)

Covered by: Mercedes Jones, Santana Lopez and Brittany Pierce with the Troubletones

Santana & Mercedes with the TroubleTones

One of the nicest remix that was delivered amazingly by the best vocals in Glee! If you’re Adele fan, I’m sure you would enjoy this cover by The Troubletones!

3) Jar of Hearts by Christina Perri (Season 2)

Covered by: Rachel Berry

jar of hearts

The song that moved me to tears. This song was covered on a prom episode in Season 2, when Finn and Rachel were not together. One of the most memorable episodes of all seasons.

4) Let Me Love You (until you learn to love yourself) by Ne-Yo (Season 4)

Covered by: Jake Puckerman

glee_let_me_love_you_season_4

The sweetest song by Jake ever since he appeared on Season 4. If he were to sing that song to me, I might just cry in the choir room. But anyway, I think that his rendition was really suitable for his melodious voice. Don’t you think so?

5) Loser Like Me: Original Composition (Season 2)

By: New Directions

Loserlikeme

Such a meaningful song delivered with such great enthusiasm for their regionals against The Warblers. Well, at last they won!

6) Marry You by Bruno Mars (Season 2)

Covered by: New Directions

tumblr_lck3h7DvDv1qbna3i

Cutest song ever with all the even pair ups in New Direction. “It’s a beautiful night, we’re looking for something dumb to do. Hey, baby! I think I wanna marry you!”

7) Pretending: Original Composition (Season 2)

By: Rachel Berry and Finn Hudson

tumblr_m27w4oBF0n1qgzqq7

A duet original song at the Nationals. Though they didn’t win, but at least Finn and Rachel got back together. 😀

8) A Thousand Years Pt 2 by Christina Perri ft. Steve Kazee (Season 4)

Covered by: Marley Rose and Jake Puckerman

Jarley03

Ever since they appeared in Season 4, I’ve always shipped the Jarley  couple cause they look so loving together. And I’ve got to admit that their rendition of A Thousand Years is just superb. Thumbs up!

9) Defying Gravity by Wicked (Season 1)

Covered by: Kurt Hummel and Rachel Berry

DefyingGravity

Let’s just say that I love their voices.

10) Don’t Stop Believin’ by Journey (Season 1)

Covered by: Rachel Berry, Finn Hudson and New Directions)

glee-cast

One of my first favourite songs from Glee. Though I can never sing it the way like they do, I will never ever forget this song that made Glee more popular than they first began.

That’s all for my top 10 favourite Glee songs. To all Glee fans out there, just a heads up that Glee Season 5 will be out in September. However, due to the unforeseen loss of Cory Monteith, Glee’s lead actor, the first few episodes will include a tribute to him. In which, it will then be put to a break for sometime before production resumes again. I’m sure all the Gleeks will miss Finn Hudson as much as I do. On the bright side, I look forward to a great new Season 5 though it will not be the same without Finn.

Do share with me what are your favourite Glee song(s). Also do show your support by visiting a website that I am writing for at www.spc4sm.com. I would really appreciate your support. Thank you so much.

Toddles,

Ross ❤

Fighting (2009)

So finally, last Saturday night, I decided to watch Fighting, anticipating all the great actions from the fighting scenes. Here’s what I’ve got to say about it!Image

Fighting (2009) is about Shawn MacArthur (Channing Tatum), a gentle son of a wrestling coach that earns a living by selling fake products in New York City.  He then faced a group of “thieves” who were trying to obstruct him from selling fake products by the streets. Things get violent when the group of “thieves” started to attack Shawn and snatched his products. Everything became chaotic and messy.  Being persistent, Shawn fought back to get his items. It was quite clear that a man was behind this set up, trying to see if Shawn was strong enough to fight back. True enough, Shawn fought back till he had to run away from the cops.  This fighting scene made me felt intrigued to finish watching the movie despite the fact of the unstable and shaky shots along the way. I would honestly say, the first fighting scene was indeed crucial in the first 5 minutes of the movie and I have to compliment the Dito Montiel, writer and director of Fighting, for this smart move.

Image

The plot gets more exciting as Shawn met Harvey Boarden (Terence Howard), a guy who offered him a ‘job’ where he can make easy money. In fact, Harvey was the one who set up the theft in the beginning. Being stubborn, Shawn was reluctant to believe Harvey’s words but later on, he changed his mind. Money was the motivation. Shawn had to earn a living thus, he trusted Harvey and agreed to be a fighter and had to wait for Harvey’s calls or sms every single day for a fight. It was here that I thought that Harvey was some kind of agent hiring professional boxers or wrestlers but I was wrong. The twisting plot became more exciting because things became unpredictable in this movie thus far.

Along the way, Shawn met a girl, Zulay Velez (Zulay Henao) who lives with her daughter and grandmother. They met in the beginning when Zulay wanted to buy the fake product from Shawn. They met again in a club after Shawn’s first fight and that was when sparks flew between them and they became closer. However, things got way too complicated when Shawn found out that Zulay and Harvey knew each other. I think this was interesting because I was also shocked to know that there was something going on between Zulay and Harvey. But it turns out that Zulay had been helping Harvey to bet on fights and they had always pretended that they didn’t know each other. This was quite confusing at first but intelligent because many would have thought that Zulay and Harvey are having a relationship or sort of.

Image

The last fight was the most anticipated scene. The moment Shawn bumped into his rival, Evan Hailey (Brian White) back in those school days, we all can guessed that something was going to happened between Shawn and Evan. It was inevitable that the tension arise whenever they made eye contact in the club will eventually lead to a big finale fight.

Image

Throughout all the fight scenes, it was obvious that Shawn is someone who possessed no great skills but his positive attitude and determination finally leads him to victory and this is the kind of movie I enjoy watching. I would give Fighting (2009) 3 and ½ stars!

To those who have not watched it, do check it out and feel free to share with me your views on this action-packed movie.

So What’s Your Back-Up Plan?

Are you searching for a movie that is way different from a typical love story where the guy likes the girl and then the girl likes him back, but there were obstacles along the way but somehow ended up together?? Also, as we’ve always known that a guy and a girl has to fall in love, get married and then have a baby but in this movie, it does not necessarily need to be in that order. I can assure you that The Back-Up Plan is the perfect out-of-the-ordinary love story movie.

PLOT

The Back-Up Plan (2010), is one of the best romantic comedy movie I’ve watched so far. Well, I just borrowed it from my school library since my friends recommended me to watch it so I spent my morning, which was around 1am++, watching it by myself. I would say that based on the synopsis alone, the film is quite interesting and really intrigued me to watch it.

Zoe, played by J.Lo, has really given up all hope on finding the right guy and hence, she’s decided to get an artificial insemination because she really wanted to have a child so badly. It was very out-of-the-box for the film to start with the scene where she’s being artificially inseminated in the doctor’s clinic and Zoe started speaking out her thoughts. I think that was very creative and differentiates this film from other rom-com movies that starts with a girl falling out of love or a girl who just broke up with her boyfriend.

Image

The plot gets more interesting when Zoe met Stan (Alex O’Loughlin), a guy who sells cheese but actually he owns a farm (yup, he’s rich). He is almost perfect, a guy with good personality, good body, rich and everything that is ideal. BUT the problem is that Zoe is pregnant and now that they have both liked each other, how is Zoe going to tell Stan that she is pregnant??

Image

Well, things get tough and rocky when Zoe finally blurts out the truth to Stan in the middle of a cheese farm (can you imagine the smell of cheese? HAHA).  Stan was too shocked and felt that he wasn’t ready for a baby but then again, he loves Zoe a lot. But I’m not going to spoil the ending for those of you who have not watched it yet.

I would give The Back-Up Plan, 4/5 stars because of its hilarious and different story plot. In terms of cinematography, director Alan Poul did a great job in capturing the subject in every shot. It was comfortable to watch the movie without having to think of what to focus on because the shots were well planned.

Image

Quote from The Back-Up Plan

“Zoe: [Zoe gets in a taxi cab] Oh, excuse me this is my cab.

 Stan: What, you own it?

Zoe: No, but I’m about to rent it.”

Do leave your comments…
