Crazy,Stupid,Love. (2011)

Out of love and looking for a movie to watch? Crazy,Stupid,Love is the right movie to watch. Why? Two reasons. One; being out of love does not give you the right to give up but instead move on, upgrade yourself and who knows you will find the One. Two; love does not necessarily be complicated. But mainly, do not give up on love.

The movie begins starts off with Emily (Julianne Moore) asking for a divorce from his 25 years of husband, Cal Weaver (Steve Carell) at a dinner. It was a rude shock to Cal, the father of three kids and choose to stay mum until his wife, Emily expose the truth that she slept with someone. But Cal chooses to agree with the divorce.

However, it was the part after divorce that turns out harder for Cal. He hangs out at a bar, getting drunk and starts making a nuisance of himself. Cal starts telling everyone about his divorce and making a fool of himself until he meets Jacob Palmer (Ryan Gosling), the hottest known Casanova in the bar.

Jacob starts to help Cal to get back on track getting him a transformation rather than to give up on love after a divorce. Initially, Cal refuses to heed Jacob’s words, seeing Jacob picking up different girls every single day, for he believed in one true love. However, Jacob suavely managed to convince Cal to upgrade and get out there in the market, where he could be enjoying his life again.

Things get more interesting as Jacob teaches Cal on how to pick up girls. But most importantly, Jacob guided Cal to regain his confidence back. He starts talking to girls and eventually have some casual time with them. Cal thought things were starting to look up but he knows that he still loves Emily and his kids.

Amidst Cal’s life to get back in the market with ladies, another character, Hannah (Emma Stone) appeared. She first encountered Jacob in the bar, while he was trying to pick her up but it failed. She has been awaiting the day for her lawyer boyfriend to propose to her. But when the expected big day comes, her boyfriend laid an unexpected offer to his law firm instead of a marriage proposal. Hannah felt so cheated and devastated that her boyfriend was not going to propose to her even after so long being together. In a fury, she heeds her best friend’s advice and broke up with him right away.

She then makes her way to the bar where Jacob frequents, hoping to get laid after blatantly chasing Jacob away the last time they met. They kissed and Jacob brought Hannah to his luxurious home. They ended up talking and spending time getting to know each other instead of having sex. And soon, right after, they realized they have fallen for each other. And it was shocking for Jacob as he is one that does not fall in love.

Earlier on, Cal and Emily had a meeting with his son’s teacher. But it turns out that his son’s teacher was one of the ladies that he had slept with. Cal argued with Emily but realizes that as much as he wanted to move on, he refuses to. But it was all too late. Was it? He looks for Jacob but Jacob was gone. Cal was clueless.

This is where things get tough. But like the saying goes, if there’s a will, there’s a way. The divorce was definitely a mistake to Cal but he knows that he has to amend it someway somehow if he wants to be happy for the rest of his life. And that……. is where I should stop so that you may watch the rest of the movie. Well just another twist part, Hannah turns out to be Cal and Emily’s daughter! Shocking? Yup but things get more complicated too as Jacob is dating Hannah, something Cal disapproves. So how did Crazy,Stupid, Love ended?

The ending was definitely worth watching but it was the whole story plot that made me glued to my screen. Not to mention how incredibly attractive Ryan Gosling is. This may sound crazy but it was my first Ryan Gosling movie I’ve ever watched. This movie definitely makes me want to watch more Gosling’s movies!

In a nutshell, I would give Crazy,Stupid,Love. 3 out of 5 stars! So if you are crazy, stupid and wants to be in love or maybe in or out of love, you should watch this while having a blanket around to keep you warm while watching.

My Top 10 Favourite Glee Songs

As many would have heard about the passing on of a talented actor who starred in Glee Season 1 till Season 4, here is a blog post I dedicate to Cory Monteith, one of my favourite Glee characters. It was indeed a shock for me especially when I learn about his death while at work. I told myself that I need to write a post as a tribute to Cory who played Finn Hudson in Glee and finally came up with this.

It took me sometime to cool down and get my mind off from the sadness to write this article. Been a fan of Glee’s songs, I’ve never failed to catch all episodes from season 1 to 4., (even though I may not be a hardcore fan). My Glee playlist was just too long that I just can’t decide which are my favourite ten. But nonetheless, here’s a list of my top 10 favourite Glee songs that I would like to share with all of you. (The list of songs are in no particular order.)

1) Give Your Heart A Break by Demi Lovato (Season 4)

Covered by: Rachel Berry and Brody Weston

A song by my favourite celebrity Demi Lovato, covered by Rachel and Brody was just amazing. Sometimes, I prefer the Glee acoustic version of Give Your Heart A Break than the original version. But then again, I will still love the original one always. Check out the performance here.

2) Rumour Has It/Someone Like You by Adele (Season 3)

Covered by: Mercedes Jones, Santana Lopez and Brittany Pierce with the Troubletones

One of the nicest remix that was delivered amazingly by the best vocals in Glee! If you’re Adele fan, I’m sure you would enjoy this cover by The Troubletones!

3) Jar of Hearts by Christina Perri (Season 2)

Covered by: Rachel Berry

The song that moved me to tears. This song was covered on a prom episode in Season 2, when Finn and Rachel were not together. One of the most memorable episodes of all seasons.

4) Let Me Love You (until you learn to love yourself) by Ne-Yo (Season 4)

Covered by: Jake Puckerman

The sweetest song by Jake ever since he appeared on Season 4. If he were to sing that song to me, I might just cry in the choir room. But anyway, I think that his rendition was really suitable for his melodious voice. Don’t you think so?

5) Loser Like Me: Original Composition (Season 2)

Such a meaningful song delivered with such great enthusiasm for their regionals against The Warblers. Well, at last they won!

6) Marry You by Bruno Mars (Season 2)

Covered by: New Directions

Cutest song ever with all the even pair ups in New Direction. “It’s a beautiful night, we’re looking for something dumb to do. Hey, baby! I think I wanna marry you!”

7) Pretending: Original Composition (Season 2)

By: Rachel Berry and Finn Hudson

A duet original song at the Nationals. Though they didn’t win, but at least Finn and Rachel got back together. 😀

8) A Thousand Years Pt 2 by Christina Perri ft. Steve Kazee (Season 4)

Ever since they appeared in Season 4, I’ve always shipped the Jarley  couple cause they look so loving together. And I’ve got to admit that their rendition of A Thousand Years is just superb. Thumbs up!

9) Defying Gravity by Wicked (Season 1)

Covered by: Kurt Hummel and Rachel Berry

Let’s just say that I love their voices.

10) Don’t Stop Believin’ by Journey (Season 1)

Covered by: Rachel Berry, Finn Hudson and New Directions)

One of my first favourite songs from Glee. Though I can never sing it the way like they do, I will never ever forget this song that made Glee more popular than they first began.

That’s all for my top 10 favourite Glee songs. To all Glee fans out there, just a heads up that Glee Season 5 will be out in September. However, due to the unforeseen loss of Cory Monteith, Glee’s lead actor, the first few episodes will include a tribute to him. In which, it will then be put to a break for sometime before production resumes again. I’m sure all the Gleeks will miss Finn Hudson as much as I do. On the bright side, I look forward to a great new Season 5 though it will not be the same without Finn.

How Despicable Are You?

With the teaser BA BA BANANANA out in 2012, Despicable Me 2 has finally hit the theatres a few days back. So the question is …have you catch Despicable Me 2 yet? If you haven’t, then what are you waiting for? Quickly grab your tickets and watch the cute minions in cinemas right now. I’ll guarantee you that you won’t regret but instead crave for more minion actions! And if you are still not convinced, then check out my review of Despicable Me 2 below.

The Plot

The movie began with a chaotic scene of a factory being attracted and taken away by a huge giant magnet. The factory was producing a serum known as AK-41, which is highly dangerous and deadly. The serum when injected into anyone or anything, will transform them into a crazy, wild and barbaric purple creature that destroys everything that come in its way. But now the BIG question is WHO IS THE VILLAIN that stole the serum?

It was then that Gru, the former villain, was being recruited by the Anti-Villain League (AVL) Agent Lucy Wilde and brought to meet the league director, Silas Ramsbottom. Initially, Gru was against the idea of being an undercover working for AVL. But eventually, for the sake of his daughters, he agreed to work alongside Agent Lucy Wilde. It was so adorable that the daughters were so excited to see Gru becoming a HERO instead of a villain. Well, no one can deny that all three daughters, Margo, Edith and Agnes are the second cutest below the minions!

Traces of the AK-41 serum were then found to be in the Paradise Mall. Both Gru and Agent Lucy start played undercover as cupcake makers in the mall. At the same time, they made friends with other owners working in the mall, hoping to capture the villain. They met Eduardo, owner of the Salsa Restaurant. Eduardo resemble so much of a claimed-to-be-dead strong villain called El-Macho. And that made Gru’s suspicions towards Eduardo grew, making him the primary suspect.

So based on Gru’s suspicions, both him and Agent Lucy decided to break in Eduardo’s Salsa restaurant to find the traces of serum. But it was disappointing to find out Eduardo’s secret Salsa recipe in a safe instead of serum. It was then they shifted their attention to another storeowner, Floyd. Despite, their best efforts, Silas were disappointed at their progress in capturing the villain.

Despite being busy with the investigation, the three adorable daughters kept bugging Gru to go on a date. Being haunted by his first failed attempt of asking a girl out, Gru was totally against the idea of meeting a girl. However, in order to make Agnes happy, Gru finally agreed to go on a blind date. But things turned out wrong during the date and Agent Lucy coincidentally saved Gru. That night, a kiss from Agent Lucy made Gru realized his feelings for her.

Just as Gru confirmed his feelings for Agent Lucy, Silas captured Floyd as traces of serum AK-41 were found among the store, leading to the end of investigation for Gru and Agent Lucy. It became more devastating for Gru as he found out that Agent Lucy would be transferred to Australia to work on another case.  Being preoccupied with the investigation, his daughters and his partner, Agent Lucy, he did not realize that his minions were slowly decreasing in number, as they were kidnap by the villain. (Poor minions as they were taken away from their owner.)

It was on a festive night held by Eduardo, where the truth was revealed. Eduardo is El-Macho! El-Macho has been working with Gru’s doctor, Dr Nefario for his comeback. Their plan was to use the serum to transform the minions into a barbaric and wild purple creature to destroy the world. But a changed Gru hesitates to join El-Macho and runs away with his three daughters from the party that night.

But things became worse as Agent Lucy decided to stay instead of going to Australia. She was then captured by El-Macho and used as a threat to Gru. Honestly, El-Macho is so mean and cruel to be doing that, reasons why he is a VILLAIN.

Being a HERO, Gru had to save Agent Lucy from danger but was then attacked by thousands of his transformed purple minions! Dr Nefario then arrived, just in time. He came up with an antidote to re-transform the purple barbaric minions into the normal, yellow adorable minions. Things became more chaotic as El-Macho transformed himself into the barbaric purple creature. Together with the help of Gru’s daughters and the minions, Gru managed to defeat the then transformed purple El-Macho and saved Agent Lucy from being flown into a volcano.

The movie ended with the minions performing their version of ‘I Swear’, changing the words to ‘Underwear~~’, specially for Gru and Agent Lucy’s wedding after 147 dates later.  The movie had such a happy and humorous ending, receiving laughter from all the audience in the cinema.

I would give Despicable Me 2 a 5-star rating! Despicable Me 2 is indeed one of the best movies for the year 2013 so far. Therefore, what are you waiting for? Watch Despicable Me 2 and share with me your ratings of the despicably adorable movie!

Silver Linings Playbook

Here’s a review on Silver Linings Playbook after catching it on the 2^nd day of its premiere in cinemas, 2 weeks ago.

Directed by David O. Russell and written by David himself and Matthew Quick, Silver Linings Playbook was a movie full of tension but yet has a deep meaning. Silver Linings Playbook was adapted from, the novel, The Silver Linings Playbook written by Matthew Quick. The film has won numerous awards ever since its premiere on 16 November 2012 in US. Hence, I must say that Silver Linings Playbook is a MUST WATCH. Read on to find out what I think of the movie.

Story Plot

It all begins with Pat, played by Bradley Cooper, being cooped up in a mental asylum after months of treatment for his bipolar disorder. He was then released and eventually found out that his wife, Nikki has left him and his dad, Robert De Niro, had lost his job. Pat became very frustrated and violent towards his parents in search of his wedding videos with Nikki. Even though, he had a restraining order from Nikki, he believed that he would recover and get Nikki back.

But things changed when he met his best friend’s wife’s sister, Tiffany (Jennifer Lawrence). Tiffany’s husband died in an accident and since then, she had been called a slut for sleeping around with guys. However, she decided to change and eventually began to get Pat closer to her by offering her help to Pat that is to pass Nikki the letter he wrote. But in return, Pat has to join a dancing competition with her. Even though Pat was very reluctant, he had no choice because he was desperate to get Tiffany’s help to pass the letter to Nikki. Since the agreement, Pat came to Tiffany’s backyard house to practice every single day.

Eventually it came to a point when Pat got a reply from Nikki, a letter which was written by Tiffany herself, saying that Nikki has moved on and wants Pat to move on too. Things heated up with Pat almost giving up in dancing and Tiffany had to lie to Pat that Nikki is coming for the dance competition.

On the competition day, Pat and Tiffany did average even though Tiffany was devastated that Nikki really did attend the competition and afraid that she might lose Pat to Nikki. But it was such a sweet touch to the ending when Pat chased after Tiffany after seeing him whispering to Nikki. Pat confessed his love to Tiffany.

 

My Thoughts

I enjoyed watching this movie a lot mainly because of its story plot and the actors, Bradley Cooper is so handsome and Jennifer Lawrence is just so sexy. They played their character really well that I could emotionally relate to them. Though there were too much dialogue in the movie, in which I had to listen more than to watch, it was indeed necessary to tell the whole story. I like the intense moments during the arguments between Pat and his parents. The close-ups used in the movie were effective to let the audience feel connected to Pat, who is suffering from bipolar disorder.

 

3 out 5 stars!!

Are you ready for MAMA?

Heard of MAMA? I’m really so excited and can’t wait to catch MAMA in cinemas. So based on the trailer, it seems quite scary but what excites me is the story plot. I am very curious as to why is there a child in a closet and why “A Mother’s Love is Forever”, the movie’s tagline.

Addiction To Movies

It’s 2013 everyone!! Happy New Year!! 2012 has been the year I became addicted to watching movies be it new or old movies. The movies may be from past years but I just watched it this year. I have come up with a list of movies I’ve watched throughout the whole year of 2012 and some comments about the movie!

 

Thor (Loved Thor and his hammer though the idea of another world was kind of scary)

The Avengers (The Best Action Movie EVER! Need I say anything else?)

The Vow (Very touching and almost moved me to tears)

Tangled Ever After (I wish my hair was as smooth as Rapunzel but really great story there.)

The Awakening (Boring horror movie ever. A very predicted story plot though)

Paranormal Activity 3 (I love horror and I think it was just an average horror movie)

This Means War (The first chick flick kind of movie I watched ever. Thumbs up)

Mean Girls (So hilarious! Can’t help watching it the second and third and fourth time!)

Despicable Me (The cutest minions ever!)

Wild Child (My friend recommended me to watch and I would say, I LOVE IT)

The Dictator (Dirty and Funny at the same time! A MUST WATCH)

Brave (A cute, brave young girl with red hair. Very inspiring)

Step Up 3 (Watched this again to watch Step Up Revolution but still had no time to watch it!)

Magic Mike (Wooooo!!! Nice movie but could have been better as much as how entertaining it was. Check out my previous posts)

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 (Nice magical fight and ending there. Just love how Lord Voldemort died)

Fighting (AWESOME especially with Channing Tatum as the lead. Check out my previous posts about it!)

Here’s a short list of all the movies I watched in the year 2012. There are a few that I missed out or I can’t remember. But I would honestly say that each of these movies are very unique and as a filmmaker, I did take out some learning point from each movies. And as a movie lover, I really enjoyed every single movie that I watched though there were some movies that was not up to my satisfaction.
